Hello! My name is Victoria Verna, and I’m a senior at Central Michigan University. This blog is part of an assignment for my Digital Journalism class, where I’ll be posting my coursework as blog posts. Along with those assignments, I also plan to share topics I personally want to research and talk about in order to grow an audience.
On this blog, you’ll find reporting assignments, reflections on media and culture, and my thoughts on games like Hollow Knight and the Ori series. I love music (especially metal), art, and gaming. I’m studying broadcasting and journalism, and I hope you enjoy following along on my journey through this class.
I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember, starting with Pokémon and My Little Pony when I was a kid. My older brother later introduced me to anime, which pushed me to improve my art style and explore new ways of drawing. I’ve been focusing on drawing humans and things that look like humans, but I’m trying to improve my style and bring in some animal art as well, as it can help me do proportions a lot easier.
I’m part of the CMU Overwatch Esports team as a flex support, which flex supports typically output the rawest healing, and can often heal more than one teammate at a time. Main supports can put out short bursts of healing to multiple targets, but their main effectiveness mainly comes from their non-healing utility. I play heroes like Juno and Kiriko, who are flex supports that deal a lot of damage if you can aim right as Kiriko is more projectile based while Juno is more hit-scan.

I’ve been playing video games ever since I was a child, around the age of 5 when I got my first ever console, the Game Boy Advanced SP. I played Pokémon Leaf Green, but I later switched to emulation on my old iPhone 4s and I’m still continuing improving my skills in the games I play. I hope you enjoy the journey that I’m going through, and this will be the only website I’ll publish to. From January to May, my writing should improve and I’ll soon be able to produce better worded shows at ABC12 if I get the job.
